The Farmhouse

The Creative Learning Center of Lexington, LLC, meets on the premises of a renovated 1926 farmhouse on 18 acres near the historic city of Lexington, North Carolina. Most of our time is spent in the new CLC building, outside, or in the community.

The Property

Some of the outdoor amenities enjoyed by attendees are:

18 acres of exploration, pasture and wooded, with creek.

A barn, CLC building, and outdoor area (see descriptions below).

Some possibilities this year that have been requested: inground trampoline and horse lessons.

A wood shed holds all the extra wood we have to be used for various projects.

A horse round pen and arena are available along with three horses and two ponies. CLC attendees have been able to consistently be with the ponies.

The Barn

The Barn went up in October, 2018, and continued to receive finishing touches into 2019. It now has three completed stall areas. One holds our bunnies that can be interacted and played with and another is being used as a horse tack and feed room. The other side of the barn has been fully outfitted as a carpentry area with plenty of tools and spare wood to create a myriad of projects. Some have built a teeter-totter, stilts, and a chair! In 2021, a ping pong table was added.

The CLC Building

In 2023, our CLC school building was built and began to be used as our main meeting facility for the 2023-24 school year. It has its own bathroom and ample space for all our creative projects and group learning needs.

CLC Downstairs Group Learning

This is an open space where everyone can gather and learn together for our afternoon classes and our independent studies. We are also now hosting various local homeschooling clubs since we have the space to share!

CLC Downstairs Project Area

This is another open space for projects and interaction. There are games, puzzles, and books for everyone as well as building and STEM items for both the older and the younger set. There are art supplies and learning manipulatives of all kinds. If you need a supply, you will probably find it here.

CLC Upstairs Loft

This space is currently used for cooking, hanging out, as well as the teen meeting space on Thursdays and Fridays. As we expand the CLC programs in 2026-27, it will be an active meeting space for either our Teen Program or the Junior Program. There are also supplies up here along with project-based learning equipment such as a full-sized keyboard, LEGO, sewing machines, a 3-D printer, a Cricket, along with arts and crafts materials, cooking supplies, how-to books of all kinds, and even an ongoing puzzle.

The Barn Loft

Lights, heaters and fans, and cross breeze (for protection from germs). The barn loft is where we met as a new space for projects, studies, or any other thing we need to gather for since Covid in 2020 until 2023. We now utilize the CLC building for our main meet place and the loft is still in progress for what it will be used for: game room? extra supply area? We’re still figuring it out.

The Playground Area

We put in a huge concrete pad in August, 2019, and it has already seen a lot of action! Basketball, four square, hopscotch, jump rope. You name it and it has been played here. In 2021, a gaga pit and another basketball hoop was built and erected and has had a lot of action. We added our picnic tables made and decorated by the attendees, colorful chairs, a tetherball area, and our castle playground, and you have many choices to be active outside! In 2025, an adult-strength three-bay swing set was added as well as another wooden play structure with a variety of playing implements on it. (I will take an updated photo in the spring!)
